Our Beliefs

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old (39 books) and New (27 books) Testaments, is the plenary, verbally inspired word of God, and that it is inerrant and infallible. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We use only the King James Version of the Bible. We accept it alone as our standard of faith and practice.

Psalms 12:6-7, II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21, II Peter 1:23

The Trinity

We believe in one God that is eternally existent and equal in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We also believe that these three in one are perfect, infinite, and equal in all things past, present, and future.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:18-20, John 5:7-8, John 10:30

God the Father:

We believe that He is the Creator of all things. He is infinite in knowledge, wisdom, and holiness. He is supreme in His love. His power cannot be measured. He has always been concerned for the welfare of man. He always hears and answers our prayers, and in His mercy, has provided a way for us to be saved from sin and death.

I Chronicles 29:10, Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 3:17, Matthew 5:45

God the Son, as Jesus Christ:

We believe that Jesus Christ was miraculously conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin, Mary, and that He is a hypostatic union: 100% God and 100% man. He is the only begotten Son of God, sinless and always obedient to His Father. Through His shed blood, He gave the only atonement for the sins of the world. We believe in the resurrection of the actual crucified body of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His ascension to Heaven, and in His present life for us as High Priest and Mediator. We believe in the bodily, personal, pretribulation, premillenial, imminent coming of the Lord in the air to receive His church (all believers) in the clouds. We believe that He will also come with His church at the end of the tribulation to judge the living and set up His kingdom.

John 1:14, 18, 4:9

God, the Holy Ghost:

We believe that the Holy Ghost’s work in regard of the unsaved is to convict them of their sin and unrighteousness, and to bring them into judgment. His work in regard to the saved is spiritual baptism, sealing, and indwelling (which are all done at the time of salvation for believers) and for teaching and guiding.

John 16:8-11, 13, Ephesians 1:13

Man

We believe that the first man, Adam, was created innocent, but by willful transgression fell into sin, sinking the whole race into condemnation and death, so that all men are now born into sin and become accountable for their sin with their first expression of personal choice. Since all men are sinners with a free will, they must freely accept Jesus as their Saviour.

Romans 3:23, 5:12

The Devil

We believe in Satan, a real person, who is the Adversary of mankind. He is the opposite of God in all respects. Having been cast out of Heaven, his goal is the downfall of man. He works to pervert the Scriptures and the Gospel of Jesus. His judgment has already been passed and he will be cast in to the lake of fire to be tormented eternally.

Genesis 3:1-5, Isaiah 14:12-17, Revelation 20:7-10

Salvation

We believe that the only escape from the penalty of sin, death, eternal separation from God, and Hell, is through the redeeming, saving blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, which He shed on the cross of Calvary. He satisfied the justice of God for the sins of man. The blessings received from salvation are given on the grounds of “grace alone” to all that possess true biblical repentance for sins committed against God, along with belief and confession that Jesus is the resurrected Son of God. We believe in the eternal security of the believer. Once a person is truly saved, that person is kept by the same power that saved him, the power of God. We believe that you can know for certain that you are saved.

John 14:6, Acts 4:12, I John 5:13, Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:30-31, Hebrews 9:22, John 10:27-29, I Peter 1:5, I John 5:13, John 3:16

Heaven and Hell

Heaven and Hell are literal places. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, both the just and the unjust; the everlasting life of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost in a literal, burning Hell.

Matthew 5:34, Revelation 22:1-5, I Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 20:11-15, Luke 16:23

The Church and Its Ordinances

We believe in the church as the Body of Christ, made up of all born-again believers. We also believe in the local church consisting of born-again believers that have been scripturally baptized. We believe there are two ordinances: water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that immersion is the only scriptural mode of baptism. We also believe that water baptism is for believers only and that is shows the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of Jesus’ death until He comes again. It is also a continual fellowship with him that should always be preceded by a very careful self-examination. Requirements for Scriptural observance of the lord’s Supper are the new birth and baptism by immersion. These are the only ordinances for the New Testament church.

Acts 2:41-42, Acts 8: 36-39, Colossians 2:12

Separation

We believe the Bible commands us to separate ourselves from sin, sinning believers, false teachers, non-believers, and worldliness. Separation does not mean isolation. We are to let our lights shine before men!

Matthew 5:16, Matthew 6:19-24, Colossians 3:8-9, II Corinthians 6:14

Witnessing and Evangelism

We believe that it is our responsibility to support missionaries and their work by both prayer and giving, and that it is the responsibility of every saved individual to share the “good news” of salvation with those who are lost, both by word of mouth and by example.

Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, I Timothy 6:12-14, Proverbs 11:30
